I can not say enough about my experience at Family Dentistry. Everyone from the office staff, receptionist Jill, dental assistant Lisa, and Dr. Phillips were kind, caring, and compassionate. I felt like I was family. They cater to cowards. I was not looking forward to having the dental work I needed. My visit was excellent. The dental assistant Lisa actually noticed and alerted the dentist to a problem not related to the procedure I was having. They both were so gentle, making sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure. (I love they have a bumper guard to help keep your mouth open). They explained everything they were doing and made sure I was pain-free. I would highly recommend everyone I had contact with. Thank you to each one of you for caring!

September is Pain Awareness Month. It’s a timely reminder that discomfort — especially in your mouth — shouldn’t be ignored. At Family Dentistry of Knoxville, we see firsthand how dental discomfort can interfere with your day-to-day life, from eating and talking to sleeping well at night.
The good news? There are proven dental solutions that can ease your symptoms and restore your oral health. If you’re hurting, call us at 865-345-5129. If it’s an emergency, we’ll do our best to see you ASAP.
In the meantime, here are six ways we help you feel better and protect your smile:
1. Treat Cavities With Tooth-Colored Fillings
When decay reaches the inner layers of your tooth, it can cause persistent aching or sharp pain. A filling removes the damaged portion and restores the tooth with durable, natural-looking material. You’ll be able to chew comfortably again.
2. Reinforce Teeth With Dental Crowns
If a tooth is cracked, worn down, or has undergone repeated treatments, a crown may be the ideal fix. This custom cap fits over the tooth to restore strength, reduce sensitivity, and improve function.
3. Close Gaps With a Dental Bridge
A missing tooth can shift the balance of your bite, leading to jaw soreness or pressure on surrounding teeth. A dental bridge fills the space left behind, preventing movement and helping maintain a healthy, pain-free bite. Or you can get a dental implant with a crown, to avoid putting crowns onto healthy teeth for a bridge.
4. Reverse Gum Problems With Periodontal Care
Swollen or tender gums are often a sign of gum disease, a common but serious cause of dental discomfort. With deep cleanings and periodontal therapy, we target the infection and help your gums heal so you can eat, brush, and smile without pain.
5. Save Teeth With Root Canal Treatment
When the pulp inside a tooth becomes inflamed or infected, the pain can be intense. A root canal removes the infected tissue, relieves pressure, and allows you to keep your tooth without lingering discomfort.
6. Protect Against Grinding With a Custom Night Guard
Teeth grinding, especially during sleep, is a common source of jaw pain, worn enamel, and morning headaches. A custom-fit night guard cushions your teeth and reduces strain on your jaw muscles, making a big difference in how you feel each day. If a misaligned bite is contributing to your pain, your dentist may suggest treatment with SureSmile aligners.
