You know, I first came to Knoxville right when COVID started, and it was a scary time. And because I’m an old man, I just felt like I needed to be especially careful. Of course, I needed a dentist in Knoxville.
And so when I made my first appointment during the beginnings of COVID, when everyone was afraid of everything, this was a place that seemed to put me at ease. They seemed to have the expertise to know what they were doing around all of the parameters of this unseen epidemic that we were going through. And so from the get-go, I felt safe coming here.
From the experience of my own mom and dad, I realized that much like our general health, our dental health, my parents’ dental health tended to deteriorate during their 70s. And so I realized I didn’t want that for me. This practice placed me at ease with the care they were providing, made lots of suggestions, not the least of which was something like a water pick that I was reluctant to ever buy because I thought it was just another gadget.
And they helped me understand, now my dental hygiene is an afterthought to the rest of my life. Walking in the front door, meeting with Jill and the other receptionists, I realized once again that this is a professional office. Although in some places what you see might not be what you get, I trust that here what I see is what I get.
And so when I walk through the door from the reception area, whether I’m getting my teeth cleaned or whether I’m getting other procedures done, I trust that that same energy exists. These people are professionals. They know what they’re doing.
They come here with a purpose. It’s an easy interaction between me and a dental hygienist, between me and a dental assistant, between myself and Jason himself. Everything is provided with a treatment plan so that I know what needs to be done next.
I know when it needs to be done and how it needs to be done. And I know what it’s going to cost me ahead of time.

I love coming into Dr. Phillips’ office just because everything is very friendly. Jill is always super friendly whenever walking in and just greeting me, asking me how I am. And then going back into the office, the ladies back there who clean my teeth are always very joyful.
Everyone’s very happy and always wants to know what’s going on in my life and just very welcoming. I feel like this one really sits apart from other offices that I’ve visited just in the fact that I chose this office. I think in the past, I’ve always had my parents choose my office for me.
And so it was really nice to come in, meet the doctor, meet all the individuals who work here and they really care about me. It’s not just, oh, like I’ve known you since you were a wee little girl and now I’m going to keep cleaning your teeth. So it’s just a good adult friendly atmosphere.
So he’s very friendly and open, like I said, they’re very friendly and open, always asking how I am. They always explain what’s going on in their lives too, which is always nice to know. Like, oh, they have a life outside of the office.
He always explains things. If I have any questions, he’s very open to answering them. Even if I don’t have a question, he’s like, do you have any concerns? And I’m like, no, not today, but maybe the next time I come in.
So I’d say the care that I get here at the office is really great. They always listen to my concerns. If I need more like local anesthesia, they’re always very thorough and making sure that I’m comfortable whenever I’m getting my procedures done.
There’s so many things to love about this practice. The people are so friendly and so kind and compassionate. It feels like a reunion with old friends when you walk in the door, but also the care is exceptional.
I have been very, very pleased with all my time here. I feel like they really care about you as a person, not just as a person coming in to pay for services, but also the care is exceptional. Dr. Phillips is fantastic about explaining what you need and what your options are and giving very gentle and thorough restoration work.
He is very calm and very calming, that helps tremendously when the person that is working on you is not anxious. He is very thorough in his explanations, very gentle. He gives the most painless shots I have ever experienced and that was a big concern for me.
He takes his time and goes very slowly, so you barely feel it because if someone just shoots all the Novocaine in right away, it can be uncomfortable and he’s very conscious of making it as comfortable as possible. I’d say the quality of care is excellent. I have never had any issue with crowns coming off.
I know that can happen. Never had to come back for any follow-up work that wasn’t expected, so I think it’s been excellent work. I would say it’s an excellent place to come for dental work, whether it be routine work or more extensive work like I’ve had done.
Again, it’s a very comfortable place to be. They make sure you’re comfortable from all aspects. If you’re going to be in the chair for a long time, they give you support pillows or blankets or anything just to keep you comfortable and calm and relaxed.
I love the entire staff. From the greetings I get when I walk in with Jill and now we have Marcia and I love the cleaners, the hygienists. I feel that everybody here takes their jobs very seriously and at the same time they’re approachable, they’re friendly, they’re understanding, they’re kind.
From when I walk in the front door and talk with Jill and now we have Marcia behind the front desk and the hygienists, Skylar and Lisa, are wonderful and of course I love Dr. Jason Phillips. He’s fantastic. They do a really good job and I’ve been to a lot of different dentists because I’ve lived in several different states.
He’s very thorough and he’s easy to talk to and we’re all University of Tennessee fans and or alumni so very often he’s wearing his orange and white which I’m like, I feel like I’m at home. After living in many different states away, I’m back home, you know, we’ll talk football, we’ll talk basketball and then we’ll, of course, he’s very thorough about talking about what we’re doing as we’re doing it and I’ve never felt any discomfort whatsoever. They give as excellent care as any dentist I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to a lot of different dentists.
They’re as good as it gets and I will not be changing. Well, I most highly recommend Dr. Phillips and Family Dentistry and if they’ve been looking for a new dentist home like I was because I just moved back home three years ago, I was very happy to find this practice.
Actually, my aunt referred me to this practice. I was trying to find a new dentist and she had been coming here for a while now, and she said Dr. Phillips was great, so I decided to come. Ever since I’ve come, everybody’s felt like a family.
They’ve been very inviting, and they’re also very close to home for me, so that is definitely a perk. So, I feel like they take a more personal approach. I’m trying to make a good connection with any of their patients that are coming in.
It definitely feels like a family. They take an interest in your personal life, and also try to take the best care of you that they can. They also work with your schedule very well.
They’re very flexible. Dr. Phillips is great. He’s very kind, and he does have a good wit about him, and he’s just great with both his staff and also his patients.
He works well with Ms. Lisa and also with the hygienist and the girls up front. It definitely feels like a good connection for everybody. Since I’ve been coming, it’s excellent care.
I definitely expect, you know, the best care possible, and I feel like he definitely meets those needs for me. The first time I stepped in the office, I definitely felt welcomed. I felt comfortable, and the girls up front are very inviting, and they make you feel calm and comfortable.
When they bring you to the back for your services, they explain everything very well, and they speak in a tone that makes you feel at ease. So, I definitely have felt comfortable at all my appointments here. One of the things that’s most helpful about coming to this practice, they’re very good about reminding you of your appointments.
So, for anybody that’s busy, it’s a great reminder. They always call or text you ahead of time, and they are very good about with their communication. They also are, again, very inviting when you ever need to come for your appointments.
I love coming to Dr. Phillips practice. He’s very caring. He listens to what you have to say, any problems or concerns that you might have.
His office staff is wonderful. They always try to get your appointment, the time you want it, the day you need it. Everybody here is just so nice and so helpful.
I really wouldn’t want to go to any other practice or see another dentist. I’ve gotten used to coming to Dr. Phillips and he cares about you, not just your teeth, but he cares about you as a person. My family comes to see Dr. Phillips.
We all love him and his practice. My son DJ is an entertainer and he had an incident a few days ago that he broke his front crown and he had a show that night and I called and Dr. Phillips got him all fixed up so that he could do his show that night and I really appreciated that. To me, Dr. Phillips, as soon as he sees you, you know, he remembers about your family.
When he’s examining you, he takes his time and doesn’t push anything off on you. He’s a very honest person and that’s why we love to come here. Patients receive top-notch care here at Dr. Phillips’ office.
From him himself to the dental hygienist, the office staff, Jill in particular in the office, everybody here is wonderful. If you have any kind of problem, he goes above and beyond to try to help you out with any problem that you might have. If you are new to the area or you’re just looking for a new dentist or maybe afraid to go to the dentist, I would highly recommend Dr. Phillips.
He is very caring. He will take his time with you and he will listen. I would say that Dr. Phillips’ office is the best dentist’s office that I have been to.
We’ve been to several in the Knoxville area, but we’ve been coming to see Dr. Phillips for at least 15 years, so my whole family comes to see Dr. Phillips.
Being a man in his mid-70s, I grew up before fluoride was in toothpaste. And so even as a young teenager, I had a mouth full of cavities. And the dentist I went to when I was 15 years old, I want to say he might have put eight gold crowns in my mouth between the time I was 15 and the time I was 17.
As a testament to his experience, those gold crowns lasted me until I was well into my 70s. And I came here just when I turned 70. So when those gold crowns eventually needed replacing, that kind of work is easy because generally all Dr. Phillips had to do was pull off the old gold crown, take impressions and pictures, send it off, fit me for the temporary, and then come back in.
So I never had a lot of decay beneath the crowns, although I had some in a couple of instances. He worked to save the remnants of the tooth that were decaying beneath the crown. And so in some cases, it was close.
But in every single case, he was able to save the tooth that was underneath that old crown from the time I was 15 years old and avoid extractions, which of course would have complicated expenses and all of the procedures I needed to go through. So seven times now, old gold crowns have been replaced, each time with a temporary crown. And I remember one time a temporary came off.
And once again, I’m guessing that’s not unusual. And so all it took was a call to the office to come in and get the crown refit. Fortunately, I didn’t swallow.
The replacement crowns that I received worked beautifully every time. My bites stayed consistent. None of the crowns that are now, in some cases, almost six years old needed any further work.
And so my experience with the crowns themselves, 100%, I’m satisfied.
Growing up, I kind of noticed just my grandma or my grandpa and my mother kind of have some crooked teeth on the bottoms. I started noticing that in my teeth and it was something that I started to just be concerned about because I didn’t want them to continue to grow together. And so whenever I first came to Dr. Phillips, I actually told him that I was getting ready to get married this past July.
And so last June, so June of 2024, I was like, all right, let’s get this done because I need to straighten my teeth out before the big day. Um, so that was really great. And so the process was super easy.
The beginning of it was a little, like, I was a little concerned about that just because I was like, oh goodness, like how much is this going to cost? Just because finances with having a wedding and I’m still in school full time and I worked. So I was a little concerned about that, but they were always very helpful. And there was actually a discount that they were offering during that period.
Um, and so it was really great. I’d recommend Family Dentistry of Knoxville to do the Invisalign, um, just because they are very helpful with answering questions and doing the Invisalign is actually a lot easier than the braces just because you can still eat anything that you want. There’s not as many appointment visits, which is great.
And they always really work with you as well. I got a lot of my Invisaligns ahead of time, so maybe two or three months in advance. So I wouldn’t have to come back for a certain amount of time, which is really great for people who are busy.
Well, I had very good teeth growing up and never had issues, never had to have braces or anything. However, because of stress, I clenched my teeth in my sleep and unfortunately that caused small cracks which led to breaking down of my teeth which eventually led to several abscesses and having those teeth pulled and then having to have them restored. So I had four dental implants and crowns on those after the implants healed.
I’ve also had three crowns on other teeth. I’ve had multiple fillings along the gum line to prevent further breakdown and to make sure that those teeth remain as healthy as possible. I had had some restorative work done in the past before I came here, but this practice really stands out in their care as well as the experience.
They have top-of-the-line technology, makes it so much easier, for instance, when you need to have impressions made rather than having to bite into sticky gooey plates that can be uncomfortable and just generally unpleasant. They have wonderful 3D technology that makes it so simple and so much more a pleasurable experience. I would recommend Dr. Phillips and his staff to anyone whether they need just a general cleaning and checkup or extensive restoration work.
They do it all and do it all with a smile and with as much comfort as possible.
When I moved back to Knoxville three years ago, I already had my second set of veneers and they had been replaced simply because of one cavity that my dentist in Burbank, California said we’ll never be able to match your veneers and I was very disappointed that we had to have all of them redone. Not just because of the expense and the time to take to do that, I was very happy with my veneers and I was not quite as happy with the replacement ones but they’re fine. Well, fast forward a few years and I got another cavity between two of them and these are on the top right up front and Dr. Jason said, well, I don’t think there’s any need to replace all of them.
I believe we’re going to get a good match. We have to replace the two that the cavity’s between and so I said, great, let’s give it a try and they were not a perfect match. They were very close when they came in and they said we’re going to send them back.
We want a perfect match. So, they sent them back to the lab and they adjusted the color. They came back and they’re perfect and I can’t even tell which ones they are.
I have to stop and remember which ones we replaced. That’s how good of a job they did. Well, I’m in the public eye a lot.
I’m a lifelong professional singer and pianist and I’m also a speaker. So, it’s pretty important to me that I am able to come across with a big smile and be confident in my smile and I do smile all the time when I’m singing and speaking. So, just yesterday I did a show and a woman commented about my smile at the end of the show.
She said, I just love your smile when you’re singing on stage. So, it means a lot to me. It’s pretty important that I put my best foot forward and my best smile forward.
I would say that if you want to have a beautiful smile, come to family dentistry and if you’re in a situation like I was, I wore braces for four years growing up but I still had all these gaps between my teeth and I’m so glad that I went the extra mile and had veneers put in and now I have a much more beautiful smile than I ever would have had. When I had this problem with a cavity between them, which is all my fault, they did a great job making sure that I was able to retain the level of smile that I had before.
So I had a baby tooth and Dr. Phillips had been watching it for a while and he finally said, you know, it really needs to come out for the sake of your dental health. It needs to come out and he set me up with a fabulous oral surgeon and the connections were great. They communicated well with both with them.
They got me scheduled for a consultation very quickly and I actually had the baby tooth removed in February. So between February and last month, I was working on my healing process and then Dr. Phillips got our implant in and got that put in and it’s been great ever since. So Dr. Phillips explained that obviously with the baby tooth had to come out, would not have another tooth under it and obviously I didn’t want a gap in my teeth.
So he said the best route would be for the implant just with my age and overall better experience for my dental health. Go ahead and get the implant placed. He’s done my scans here.
He explained everything very clearly and everything has been great ever since. When the implant was first placed, obviously it took some getting used to but now it’s just part of my part of my teeth. It feels comfortable now and like I said, Dr. Phillips did a great job with taking care of my teeth from start to finish.
It’s very comfortable. It fits well with the rest of my teeth and the anatomy looks great. So for anybody that’s afraid to do it, go ahead and do it.
It’s a better experience than not doing it. As far as anybody that needs to have more than one implant, honestly better than if you were to have to have dentures because it’s the better overall experience. It’s better for your dental health.
I have a couple of crowns that Dr. Phillips has placed for me. I have not had any problems with them. They fit just perfect.
The color is just right and every time that I’ve been here I’ve not been afraid. He’s very comforting and just kind and thinking about your needs and how you feel and also if you have any problems with any work that he’s done for you, all you have to do is call and you can come back in and he’ll make it right. I’m very satisfied with the work that I’ve done, I had done here.
The crowns that he placed, I’ve never had any problems with them. One of them I’ve had in for years and I haven’t had any trouble at all. If there’s anything that, you know, he needs to just watch, you know, that might possibly give you a problem, that’s what he does.
He doesn’t jump in to do some work unless you absolutely need it and my son DJ, he’s an entertainer and he broke his front crown in two and so he had a show that night and he called Dr. Phillips, took him in and DJ was able to do his show that night all fixed up. If you need to get a crown done, I would definitely recommend this practice and Dr. Phillips. Dr. Phillips is a great care provider.
I trust him, the knowledge that they have here in this office, Dr. Phillips, the technology they keep up with, they have the most advanced technology here to help you with whatever you need and I would definitely recommend Dr. Phillips practice.
